Publisher: Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen
Abstract: Bebamboo bvba is a company led by Nic Geraerts. The company designs and develops domes. A dome is a spherical shaped tent made of bamboo. Bebamboo bvba does not only sell bamboo domes, they also rent them to customers in Belgium, The Netherlands and France. According to Mr.Geraerts the demand for domes made out of bamboo significantly increased the last couple of years. This year, 3 projects had to be finished in April. For completing these 3 projects, an order of 900 bamboo sticks was needed. To achieve the correct dome-shaped form , all sticks need to be sawed at the correct length and thereafter being linked with connecting pieces. After cutting the bamboo, some of the bamboo can not be used anymore and is considered as waste. Nic Geraerts came with the idea of creating a desk lamp with these end pieces . Working out an idea to a final concept, meanwhile doing some market research and working out design and proof of concept-process. The new desk lamp can also be used to create ambience light.
