Title: How can millenials prepare themselves for a leadership role in a multigenerational workforce
Authors: Vandooren, Jochim

Publisher: Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen
Abstract: Millennials, the younger generation, are quickly taking over the workplace while the older generations are retiring at a fast pace, leaving vacant managerial positions. The generation in between will not be able to fill up these positions sufficiently by itself. It is up to the Millennials to help take over these positions. But how can they be sufficiently prepared for these roles? How do you deal with the conflict that arises from this situation? This dissertation will research the different generations, conflict between them, leadership theories and what people look for in leaders. The research ends with a look at current Millennials as leaders. Millennials are very motivated and are looking for jobs that allow opportunities for growth. As leaders they will employ a transformational leadership style, which is a great difference with the current culture in companies. Companies will have to prepare for this and provide ample opportunities for growth if they want to retain Millennials.
